# Billing

> Manage subscriptions, payments, and wallet

## Overview

Manage your SmartAlex subscription, view invoices, and add prepaid credits through the Billing page.

## Subscription

### Current Plan

View your active subscription:

* Plan name and tier
* Monthly price
* Included features
* Renewal date

### Changing Plans

Upgrade or downgrade your subscription:

    View available plans and compare features.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select New Plan">
    Choose your desired plan.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm Change">
    * **Upgrades**: Take effect immediately, prorated for current period
    * **Downgrades**: Take effect at next billing date
  </Step>

### Cancellation

To cancel your subscription:

1. Go to **Billing** → **Cancel Subscription**
2. Complete the cancellation survey
3. Confirm cancellation

<Note>
  When you cancel, your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period. You won't be charged again, and you can continue using SmartAlex until then.

## Payment Methods

### Adding a Card

1. Go to **Billing** → **Payment Methods**
2. Click **Add Payment Method**
3. Enter card details
4. Click **Save**

Accepted cards:

* Visa
* Mastercard
* American Express
* Discover

### Default Payment Method

Your default payment method is used for:

* Monthly subscription charges
* Automatic wallet top-ups
* Overage charges

To change default:

1. Go to **Payment Methods**
2. Click the menu on the card you want as default
3. Select **Make Default**

### Removing a Card

You cannot remove your only payment method while you have an active subscription. Add a new card first, then remove the old one.

## Invoices

### Viewing Invoices

Access all invoices from **Billing** → **Invoices**:

* Invoice date
* Amount charged
* Payment status
* Download PDF

### Invoice Details

Each invoice includes:

* Subscription charges
* Usage charges (overage)
* Wallet top-ups
* Phone number fees
* Taxes (if applicable)

### Receipts

Payment receipts are automatically emailed to your account email. Download past receipts from the invoice detail page.

## Wallet

The Wallet is a prepaid credit system for usage beyond your plan's included minutes.

### How It Works

1. **Add credits** to your wallet
2. **Usage charges** are deducted automatically
3. **Low balance alerts** notify you when to top up

### Adding Credits

    Navigate to **Account** → **Wallet**

  <Step title="Select Amount">
    Choose a preset amount or enter a custom value. Default USD presets are \$5, \$10, \$25, \$50, and \$100. Presets adjust automatically for other currencies (ZAR, GBP, EUR, AUD, CAD, AED, SGD, INR).

  <Step title="Complete Payment">
    Use your default payment method or add a new card.
  </Step>

Credits are added immediately and never expire.

### Auto Top-Up

Enable automatic top-ups to never run out of credits:

| Setting            | Description                          |
| ------------------ | ------------------------------------ |
| **Threshold**      | When balance falls below this amount |
| **Top-up Amount**  | Amount to automatically add          |
| **Payment Method** | Card to charge for top-ups           |

### Wallet Balance

View your current balance and recent transactions:

* Current balance
* Recent charges (call costs)
* Recent top-ups
* Transaction history

## Usage & Costs

### Understanding Usage

Usage is measured in calling minutes. Beyond your included minutes, calls average about **\$0.05/min** (the exact cost varies by call), deducted automatically from your prepaid wallet.

### Included Minutes

Each plan includes monthly minutes:

| Plan         | Included Minutes |
| ------------ | ---------------- |
| Professional | 250              |
| Dental       | 300              |
| Real Estate  | 300              |

### Overage

When you exceed included minutes:

1. Charges are deducted from your prepaid wallet automatically
2. Keep your wallet topped up so calls and outbound campaigns keep running
3. If your wallet runs out, outbound campaigns pause until you add credit

### Usage Tracking

Monitor usage in real-time:

* Minutes used this period
* Minutes remaining
* Projected monthly usage
* Cost breakdown by call type

## Billing FAQ

  Your subscription renews monthly on the anniversary of your signup date. Usage overage and wallet charges may occur anytime during the month.

  Monthly subscriptions are non-refundable. Wallet credits can be refunded within 30 days if unused. Contact support for refund requests.

  Invoices are sent to your account email. Update your email in Account Settings to change where invoices are sent.

<Accordion title="Is my payment information secure?">
  Yes. SmartAlex uses Stripe for payment processing. We never store your full card number, only a secure token.

<Accordion title="Do you offer annual billing?">
  Yes. Pay annually on Professional or Real Estate to save vs. monthly billing. Contact sales for Enterprise terms.
